On Saturday, Jai Ram Thakur, the former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, launched a fierce critique against the Congress government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. He accused the administration of fostering an anti-Sanatana mindset and systematically targeting the Hindu population in the state. Thakur made these remarks during a press conference in Shimla alongside Rajeev Bindal, the state president of the BJP. He pointed out that incidents against Hindus have surged since Congress assumed power, highlighting that the Chief Minister had publicly expressed intentions to defeat a party that represents the ideology of 97 percent of the Hindus in the state. This statement, according to Thakur, has now become a hallmark of the government's operational mentality.
Concerns Over Recent Incidents
Thakur referenced a recent incident in Paonta Sahib, stating, "The case of a missing Hindu girl is nothing short of love jihad. Shockingly, the police delayed filing an FIR despite repeated requests from the family. It was only after public protests that the girl was located." He alleged that the government responded to public outrage not with justice but with political vengeance, noting that cases have now been filed against senior BJP leaders under Section 109 of the BNS.
Highlighting Anti-Hindu Bias
The BJP leader emphasized that numerous incidents indicative of anti-Hindu bias have occurred during the current Congress administration. He remarked that this is not the first instance where the Congress government has openly displayed prejudice against Hindus or attempted to suppress opposition voices. For example, in the Manohar murder case in Chamba, the government restricted opposition leaders from visiting the site. Additionally, a Muslim youth from Saharanpur slaughtered a cow in Nahan and shared images on social media, yet no legal action was taken.
